Summary

Janakalyan is a team of dedicated professionals committed for people’s empowerment. What started with 4 rehabilitation colonies of Sindhanur taluk in 1997 to empower refugees and ensuring their rights has now spread across the district in more than 1000 villages directly and also through its network partners. A community based organization transformed as a fully equipped professional institution to handle varieties of interventions both directly as implementer and also through its network partners as facilitator.

India lives in its villages and therefore Janakalyan dedicated itself for uplifting the rural communities. To practice the same in letter and spirit, Janakalyan operates from a remote village with a full-fledged office on 2-acre lush-green campus with a training hll having a capacity for 100 participants with all modern audio-visual facilities. There are many children in villages who could not puchase the required school stationaries due to poverty at home. The uniform, text books and mid-day meal is available in the government schools but who should provide them with the necessary note books, pen, pencils, geometry box, water bottle, bag and such other necessities? There are many children who drop out of the education system when teachers pressurises for these stationaries. Janakalyan identifies such deserving children and provide them with an education kit containing all these items.

Help build a career of a child/youth from a displaced family of Bengali refugees rehabilitated in India after partition:

More than 20000 refugees are residing in Sindhanur taluk of Raichur district; their only source of income is 4-5 acres of land provided by Government of India 50 years back. Per capita land availability has reduced while the yield per acre has gone down to any extent. Many families live in hand to mouth situation. Further, they do not fall under any protective reservation in Karnataka. The children are generally sent to schools and after matriculation engage them in driving/ construction works while the girls are married at the age of 14-15 years. Lack of transportation, lack of hostel facility, security to the girls, etc. are some of the reasons for dropping out while the important being poverty. Janakalyan identifies such children/youth from refugee communities and help them with Rs.2000 stipend to pursue their college education at least till they become 18 years old. Scholership@2000, quantity required 50, unit price 2000. total budget is 100000.

Hygienic condition is gateway to healthy families and most of the rural families fail to procure hygiene materials. This leads to ill health which causes more expenses for medicine/treatment and thus family become poort. The vicious cycle continues. But if such families taste its benefits, they will never leave the practice. The kit contains soap, surf, toilet brush, cleaning agents, scrubber, utensil cleaning cake, detergent cake, buckets, mugs, etc.For this 100 quantity is required,550 per unit price,total budget required is 5,50,000

Vaccination Drive to combat COVID 19

Janakalyan planned to make the rural mass about the importance of vaccines, the myths about the vaccines, motivate these rural mass to get themselves vaccinated, escorting them to the vaccination centre on need based cases, etc. In addition, it proposes to conduct awareness campaign in each remote village to make the rural mass aware about COVID 19 virus, vaccines, and preventive measures like wearing masks, sanitizing and maintaining social distance. Such awareness camps shall be conducted using a sound system by a qualified doctor. The doctor shall deliver a speech for 1 hour followed by questions and answers session through a mobile number. This awareness camps shall be conducted in the evening hours in each village. Further, a vehicle shall be sent to each village to make awareness about the vaccination camps in PHCs and Sub Centers as per government schedules.
