About The Founder

Group of citizens

Anatha Shishu Nivasa was founded in 1942 by a group of philanthropists and public spirited men and women. It started functioning in a small rented house in Shankarapuram, an old residential area in Bengaluru.

Summary

In 1958, it was shifted to the present building built on the site provided by Government of Karnataka.
The idea of the founding-fathers was to put an end to female infanticide, also to shelter and support orphan/abandoned infants, from day-one onwards. The children are referred by the child welfare committee [CWC], Makkala Sahaya Vani [Child help line] in addition to the one abandoned at the road or left at the gates of the Shishunivasa are given shelter and solace.
Anatha Shishu Nivasa has a sprawling compound with a spacious building consisting of 2 halls (Darmotory), a dining, a kitchen, a store, a study room & library, bathrooms and toilet blocks.
