About The Founder

St. John's Church

St. John's Church, Bangalore though built in the year 1858, has a history dating back to 1853 for in it's neighbourhood (Haines Road) there was a Chapel built in the year 1853, and named after the locality "Mootoo Cherry". Very soon it was filled to capacity and later the congregation was shifted to a bigger Church - the St. John's Church.

Summary

Asha Nivas was founded in August 1978. From a modest beginning of one block comprising of four compact double rooms for aged couples with an adjoining building of six single rooms, it became necessary in 1984 to construct an additional block consisting of one more double room and six single rooms. It was occupied almost as soon as it was built. At present there are 23 residents, some of whom are very old and infirm. Many very deserving applicants could not be accommodated owning to the acute shortage of accommodation. The demand is increasing and the need for expansion has become inevitable and we are trying our best to accommodate these needs.
