Mr. P Gnanaraj

Mr. P Gnanaraj, Founder of Kaakkum Karangal hailing from South Tamil Nadu was moved by the plight of the old and destitute men and women that he took a house on a nominal rent and gave shelter to half a dozen elders. This propelled him to later on establish a centre for the homeless. Summary

Kaakkum Karangal is a non-governmental, non-religious, non-profit; institution established in February 1992 with the aim of providing home for the homeless. This institution today shelters destitute men and women, differently abled children and old people who have been orphaned and forsaken with sky high ambitions to enlarge its scope and scale of services to larger number of people.

Kaakkum Karangal is a heaven for the old aged forsaken destitute and orphaned children. Presently, there are six homes housing 250 old aged citizens and 150 school going children and 10 spastic and infants, all are orphaned children. In our homes, we have inmates who are just one year old to those who are aged 90.

Kaakkum Karangal a social service oriented entity, founded in Feb. 992, has as its main aim to give solace to forsaken destitutes who long for food, shelter and clothes. We admit such abandoned senior citizens of either sex above 60 years give them shelter, food and clothes at free of cost and medical aid and perform the last rites to the departed. Above all we give them love and respect which has been denied to them. We help them to feel their right place in society and live their last days with honour. In our endeavor, we look forward to the benevolent, broad minded people of society to involve themselves and help us to carry out our mission by donating not only money but also clothes, provisions, vessels and medicine. We also request you to provide other infrastructure needed for our sis units, functioning efficiently for the past 22 years.
