Sangopita is an organization that epitomizes passionate and involved parenting where each member is helped to reach his/her maximum potential and more importantly, is treated with dignity. Sangopita offers lifetime residential care to the physically, mentally and sensory impaired and for those with Autism, from mainly the lower socio-economic and impoverished strata of society. Summary

Sangopita – A Shelter for care is an organization started in 2003 for providing a shelter full of care and welfare for people with mental or physical disabilities who are often taken as liability by their families. This feeling of neglect towards them also leads them to having a complex and further deteriorates their health conditions.

Ravindra and Sujata Sugwekar were one such family but they took the birth of Akshay into the family as a blessing in disguise and turned towards committing their lives towards creating a comfortable and dignified living for people needing special care due to their physical and mental disabilities particularly focusing on people affected in the rural areas.

Besides, by having special care givers for the severely disabled who ned constant care, we relieve their parents of their daily anxiety. Thus, we help families continue with their regular life with minimum disruption caused by the birth of a severely disabled child and allow them to lead a normal life.
The genesis of Sangopita lies in the simple question, “what after the demise of the parents?” Hence Sangopita, was set up with an aim to provide lifelong services to all those who need special care due to their mental and physical disabilities. Show More
