About The Founder

Novela Corda, CEO

Ms. Novela Corda has over 10 years of experience in the non- profit sector and currently works as the CEO of CHIP. Armed with a master’s degree in economics, Novela joined CHIP from an internationally reknowned NGO Don Bosco, where she worked as a researcher. During her stint in development, Novela travelled to South Africa, Italy, England, Austria, USA and Bangladesh to research, evaluate and learn about different developmental methods. Summary

CHIP was founded in 1997 by a group of educationists and doctors in Kolkata. The group was formed to fulfill the dream of a better life for children in this country. Focusing on health and education, CHIP Kolkata began with a small child and parent counseling programme and has since expanded to include a full sponsored school, a medical and educational centre called CHIP House with regular health camps, educational interventions in 14 schools, vocational training and more,reachingout to over 1 lakh beneficiaries eachyear.

CHIP Mumbai

was launched on the 5th of February 2004 in partnership with the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) school system. The chapter was founded by Dr. Sunita Banerji, Ms. Poonam Jaju, Ms. Ruby Bhatiya and Ms. Kunika Sadanand in a effort to work with these schools that cater to some of the most disadvantaged groups in Mumbai. Starting from a small school in Jogeshwari (West), CHIP Mumbai currently works across 11 BMC schools and 7 Balwadis in the K- West ward and H- East ward to implement its initiatives.

About CHIP

CHIP is an NGO working with BMC schools to provide holistic education to children.CHIP works hard to transform government schools into holistic learning spaces, making schools both academically focused and providers of education’ that is experiential.

CHIP Mumbai currently works across 11 BMC schools and 7 Balwadis in the K- West ward and H-East ward of Mumbai reaching out to over 2000 children each year. Show More
